Staying motivated when you’re not seeing the results you want is one of the hardest things ever. I begin questioning myself, “is it worth it?” “Do I keep going?”, “Do I give up and throw the towel in”?, “what’s next, what to do?”.
Motivation: the general desire or willingness of someone to do something.
Everyone comes to a point in life when they feel like giving up and all out of options. During those time, you have to find your motivation to keep going. Remember why you started or remember where you come from. Remember what and why you prayed for whatever it is you thought you wanted. I literally have to tell myself and fight the urge every time e because when things don’t go the way I want, OMG, I freaks out and just cry. I know, I’m a bit dramatic, well very dramatic when things gets crazy. Just life in general, being a mom, being an entrepreneur, just everything, I find myself seeking motivation.
Being a mom and wanting better for my children, myself, my family, motivates me and is my “why” for almost everything I do. My children already think “mama and daddy rich”, so that’s raise the bar even higher because I refuse to tell them any different, and want them to experience and do different things. I know the lifestyle I want to live, I know what I want my house to look like, the kind of car I want to drive, the peace of mind, freedom of time, motivates me to keep working hard and not give up on my dreams.
You know when you just want so much more, you can feel it, see it, pray for it, but you just haven’t gotten to that point, it drives me insane. I’m like when is my time coming, when will my dreams come to life, when will things comes to fruition. When is it my time?
Speak Life into You: things I tell myself
You have to keep going
Don’t give up
Working for it will make you appreciate it more
Think about your final results
Think about all the time that’ll be wasted if you stop
Think about the money you invested if you give up
Look at your progress you’ve made so far
You’re the chosen one
When I started my clothing brand, I had in my mind “I know a lot of people, so this should be easy”, little did I know that was far from the truth. I had my 4th set of clothes I dropped, in my mind I’m thinking everything going to sell smooth like the last 3 drops, so after I released, I had the views and people commenting, but no orders. I’m like “WTF”, so I’m constantly posting different videos to promote it, week pass by no sell, post more, still nothing at the end of the 3rd week. Now I’m freaking out because I been sitting on the inventory for a month with not 1 sell. Talk about disappointing, discouraged. A month passed, I dropped the price, people love buying once things go on sale, still Nothing. I was over it. My head was filled with nothing but negative thoughts, regrets, lost money, anything bad you name it. Im on google researching, how to sell my product, how to get people to want to buy from me, researching anything business related. After that I was ready to give up, I stop posting, I refused to get anymore inventory because I didn’t want to lose out on any money. Until one day, I post again and everything started to sell. I had alerts from my website come to my phone stating “new order”, “new order”, that made my heart race. I was so happy preparing the orders and walking into the post office to ship out orders. It was the excitement of the order process. It not because of the money but to think, damnnn, people actually brought from me. Then to start receiving pictures of others wearing my brand, OMG. Not just the buying though, just receiving feedback about the material, my writings, about the statement behind the brand. It’s heartwarming. Even that short period of time taught me a lot about the business. Some days, a lot of days, you make no money, some days you will only get 1 order or you may get multiple orders. Sometimes the bad will outweigh the good, but that’s another story for another day. The point is if I would’ve given up or just stopped, my brand would’ve died at just 4 months old. So from that day forward, I worked on being clean, branding, continue to work, and speaking about my experiences as I go.
I’m learning that those I surround myself plays a big part on what I’m wanting to accomplish. I know if I’m around winners, I’ll be the next to win. If I’m surrounded by goal-reachers, I’ll be the next to reach my goals. When I decided to fulfill my dreams as a business woman, most of the support came from strangers, not the people I was surrounded by (some, but only 2%). It shocked me good and bad,but also taught me even more. I was sadden by the support I was not receiving, but then I looked at it from a positive P.O.V, telling myself, they may not know how to support me. Support comes In different forms, not just purchasing. I enjoy conversations business, growth, evolving, etc. I feel like “your group” should be able to speak that “talk” with you, you know. So, who and what you surround yourself with is huge. Having the right support system takes you far and motivates you even more.
Outside of having others there to push you, you have to be self-motivated. Speak life into you, do things that make you feel good, figure out what it is that you want, and do it. I know it may sound easy, but it’s not. I always tell others, find something you enjoy doing and grow with it, don’t start a business or don’t do something if you have no interest in it because after awhile, the excitement can die and it’ll become bland.
Be the motivation to yourself and others. Meaning, when you see someone on the verge of giving up, step up and be that “motivation”. Tell them things you’ll need to hear if it was you. Help them, push them, show them the “thing” you wish you had at the moment. Don’t give up, your time is coming. When things seems impossible, keep working towards your goals. All it takes is one more time, that’ll change your life.
Remember: When you’re working hard for what you want, you’ll appreciate it more when you get it.
